5 in 5 - April 2016 - Beginning to see more clearly now

Welcome to '5 in 5' where on the 5th of
each month I post 5 photos that I have
taken in 5 minutes.

This year has not gone as expected and different distractions have taken me off my usual path. Things I enjoy and planned have been over shadowed and I a beginning to find my way back and see more clearly again. So when I took my Mum to the hospital yesterday for a cataract operation it seemed quite fitting to take photos for this months 5in5 post. Excuse the quality of the photos. Sometimes it is about the story and trying to look inconspicuous in a hospital while taking photos!

I am decluttering at the moment and I sorted out a big bag of books to take to the hospital. They have a table and always have a request for donations.  Guess what?  I dashed out and forgot to take the bag. I was irritated with myself especially as I had rushed to register and label some of the books for BookCrossing, but I dropped these at another collection point in the evening and will prepare another bag for when I take my Mum back to the hospital in 3 weeks.

Once all the patients were called for their treatment the waiting room was empty.

Time for me to get my book out.  Seeing so many people waiting for cataract surgery made me  count my own blessings and appreciate being able to read.  We take so much for granted.   I am currently reading 'Bird by Bird - some Instructions on Writing and Life' by Anne Lamott.  I thoroughly recommend it if you like writing.

In a corner of the room is a cabinet with interesting equipment. It makes a fascinating addition.

And on another table is a box of spectacle cases. One little boy sorted through to find one to use for storing his pencils, the bright blue one had handles and was shaped like a handbag. He wanted to take this for his nan, who was here having surgery.  I was tempted to look through myself, but reminded myself I am decluttering.  I also decided to collect together my old cases and bring them next time.

Mum's surgery went well and everyone having the treatment said it was completely painless and straight forward. Some said they look forward to being able to read again without glasses so it seems there is lot to be thankful for.
