5 in 5 - May 2020 - The herb garden

Welcome to '5 in 5' where on the 5th
of each month I post 5 photos that I have
taken in 5 minutes.

A while back I bought a collection of herb plants. These were destined for the village hall, to create a communal herb garden. However, the Covid-19 lock-down means I am nurturing them at home, and the garden plan is on hold.  The herbs are becoming pot bound, and luckily I managed to buy some bags of compost and collect some unwanted pots from a neighbour. A day in the garden is planned, repotting and tending these plants. They are looking healthy and are growing well. I may not want to part with them when the day comes!

Meanwhile, they sit in the area where the pond used to be. It is yet to be redesigned, and there is landscaping and clearing to be done. But it provides a nice quite oasis, and I am enjoying the herbs as they add colour and fragrance.

Thank you for visiting and I hope that what ever you are doing, you are safe and well. As always I invite you to join in this monthly 5in5 photo challenge. It's very simple, and it offers a new way of looking through the camera lens and adding a spark of new ideas.

  1. I do love herbs both the variety of greens and also the aroma. I would be snitching these to use in cooking! What a good idea to have a herb garden at the community hall. Let's hope it won't be too long before you can complete your task. Your last photo depicts very clearly what I would like to be doing with my friends.

    1. Yes, herbs are lovely in so many ways as well as being useful. I happily give space to these in my garden.
I've been keeping in touch with friends through Zoom, we've had a pamper night, craft sessions, general chats, and I've also celebrated a couple of birthday parties on line with quizzes and games, and a memorial for a friend who sadly died. It's certainly not the same as physically meeting and having hugs, and my garden circle of friends statue has been important during this lock down as a reminder of things to come.

  2. Lovely. I also bought some herbs and a new herb garden container for our patio. Sadly, the herbs are not very happy. They need to be outside in warm sunshine---both warmth and sunshine are hard to come by these days. Snow is in the forecast for Mother's Day which is Sunday,

    1. I hope your herbs survive and thrive Karen. The thought of snow gives me shudders! We have been blessed through most of April and May with sunshine and warmth. It's forecast to change, but I'm holding on to all the good days we have enjoyed. I hope your weather is changing for the better soon too x
