5 in 5 - Melanie - February 2017

Melanie is my friend who lives in Australia and she loves photography.  Every month since the start of this challenge Melanie has taken part in this monthly meme and as she doesn't have her own blog I post here. I love that we have found a way for her to take part, so over to you Melanie:
"Once again just down the road from where I live The Brighton Jetty Classic Sculpture Exhibition is on with sculptures exhibited both indoors and outdoors. I have walked around looking at the sculptures twice already but today being the 5th  I took my camera with me as I went to look at them again.  My plan was to take a walk early when I had hoped the sun would be up and there would not be too many people around. Today is the final day that the sculptures are on display and the annual Brighton Jetty swim is being held. The action begins around 8am when market stalls and food carts start trading then races start at 9am.  I arrived at the Jetty about 7am and already the area was coming to life but unfortunately there was no sun poking its head out from the clouds.

I took lots of photos and in my collage you can see five that I took around the same time.  I have always loved the pelican and there were actually three pelican sculptures in this year’s exhibition all made from steel by the same artist.  Many of the exhibits were made from steel.  The sculpture in the top right hand corner is called ‘bloom’ and was one which received a Highly Commended ticket. The sculpture on the bottom right hand corner is called ‘Ecotone’ and was winner of the Young Artist award. I did not stay to watch any races but headed home after taking photos.  I was pleased to get home as shortly after arriving indoors it began to rain and the rain set in for the morning.  Hopefully it will not have put too much of a dampener on the day for those people participating and watching the swimming".

Thank you for sharing these photos, Melanie, and as always, for taking part. I love the shape and textures of these sculptures and wish I could have seen them myself, but I think you will agree, we have done this through Melanie's photo and description, and this looks like a wonderful annual event.

Hopefully Melanie will be back next month and I look forward to you joining us. Thank you for popping by, it is great to have your company.
