My phone camera has its uses though, on the occasions that I want a shot of something that catches my eye and my camera is at home! I asked my husband who is quite knowledgeable on nature and he agrees, the looked after tree is probably a plane.debs14https://www.blogger.com/profile/14521565769251816528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3339699185293528077.post-32219909799471817932015-01-12T13:07:11.269+00:002015-01-12T13:07:11.269+00:00You've just saved me pottering off to look at ...You've just saved me pottering off to look at pictures. In looking at the second of your trees, I too thought 'Plane'. If so, when the 'nuts' fall, I think you'll find they aren't nuts but balls of seeds - specially itchy for sticking down the collars of your friends if you are a child. Goes well with your blog name!

I used to know rural Essex quite well. The ripping out of hedges in order to fill the fields more efficiently with crops and to make them bigger too was then still a sorrow.

So glad you have decided to follow these trees for a year. Looking forward to finding out how they grow.Lucy Corrander Now in Halifax!https://www.blogger.com/profile/14685242329129914772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3339699185293528077.post-24320479875156042412015-01-12T08:55:05.752+00:002015-01-12T08:55:05.752+00:00I think you could be right Joy. I had a look online and it looks an interesting tree to follow, the bark has amazing contrast. I think I am safe to say it is a London Plane!Sandiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12558786621283350776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3339699185293528077.post-91170001785162473542015-01-12T07:40:58.031+00:002015-01-12T07:40:58.031+00:00Your second tree looks very much like a London Pla...Your second tree looks very much like a London Plane, at least the bark does http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/british-natural-history/urban-tree-survey/identify-trees/tree-factsheets/p-to-r/plane/index.html
Joy x xjoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12288268403388265748noreply@blogger.com
