THE ARTISTS WAY - LAST CHANCE INVITATION!

A while back I posted about 'The Artist’s Way’, and how I planned to start working through the book again and run this as an online course. I have been blown away by the number of people who accepted the invitation to join me. A Facebook group has been set up and our group stretches from New Zealand to Canada, with many countries in between.  The course was launched on September 1st and the Facebook
group set up.

I have loved hearing about what members have done as Artists Dates. We have been inspired by each others ideas and offered encouragement and motivation for writing Morning Pages. And we are less than 2 weeks in!

The year ahead is going to be great fun!

If you would like to join us you would be very welcome! There is more information in my previous post and cut off date is 1st October, so act fast to save disappointment!

To sign up please leave your full name and email address as a comment below, or email me.

Thank you!

5 in 5 - MELANIE -September 2016

Melanie is my friend who lives in Australia and she loves photography.  Every month since the start of this challenge Melanie has taken part in this monthly meme and as she doesn't have her own blog I post here. I love that we have found a way for her to take part, so over to you Melanie:

Another 5th of the month.  I had several ideas circulating round in my head but on September 5th spring reared its head.  We had a beautiful day of 20C and I took a walk along the Esplanade anticipating a good sunset.  I was not disappointed and in 5 minutes the sun went from a fiery ball to nothing as hopefully my five photos show. The photo in the bottom right shows a portion of the Brighton Jetty which was next to where I stopped for my photos.

I don't know about you, but I found these photos breath taking. There is something very special about watching the sun rise and fall, and these photos capture it so well.  Thank you for sharing these Melanie, and as always, for taking part!

Hopefully Melanie will be back next month and I look forward to you joining us. Thank you for popping by, it is great to have your company.

5 in 5 - September 2016 - A trip back in time

Welcome to '5 in 5' where on the 5th of
each month I post 5 photos that I have
taken in 5 minutes.

I love watching films, usually curled up on the sofa in front of the TV with a DVD or Netflix. But occasionally a trip to the cinema makes seeing a film special. Especially when I go to one of the original cinemas that we are lucky to have in Essex. Their charm and character make it so much more enjoyable than the modern multi-screen complex experiences that dominate today.  And at £3 a ticket, and big comfy leather sofas to relax in (as an option to the original rows of seats) it is a lovely way to spend a few hours.

So yesterday I took my three grand daughters to see Swallows and Amazons. As you might know, I love the water and take any opportunity to be near or on it.  I also have happy memories of reading this series of books to my children when they were young, and what's more, during our annual camping holiday a week ago my grand daughters played in the river where Arthur Ransome had some of his boats built. So, without wasting more time, let me show you some photos of the beautiful Rio Cinema.

There is an art-deco feel to the design.

No ticket machines or booking on the internet here.

In the foyer there are camera's and photos of bygone days

and two cinema screens.

We all enjoyed the film.  The sense of adventure, innocent childhood, and a time when children played outdoors and made their own entertainment fills me with longing. But I try to share these opportunities to my grand daughters as much as possible and I will come back and tell you about our camping holiday soon.  A long with the long-ago promised second part of our scavenger hunt!

It is always fun to have company in this photo challenge so a big thank you to Mary-Lou, Maggie, Joy, Melanie, Miriam, Barbara, Karen and Borqna for taking part last month. And to all those who visited  and left comments. And YOU would be very welcome to join in too. I am having problems with the layout at the moment so until I sort this out please go to my last post to find out what you do. Thank you for visiting and have a good week.
